Fitness Class Descriptions

Our group classes have been chosen to round out a comprehensive menu of total-body exercise.
 

Qi Gong

Release all stress, increase your energy and calm your mind in this unique and popular "East meets West" class.  Our class begins with a full body preparation, followed by Qi Gong exercises to open the pathways in your body for Qi (life energy) to flow smoothly.  To conclude, we finish by storing the Qi in your body through meditation.  Qi Gong will address all the systems of your body and is appropriate for everyone!  Cultivate harmony and peace within.
 

Pilates

Pilates focuses on the core postural muscles, which help to keep the body balanced and are essential for spinal support.  Pilates exercises emphasize awareness of breath and alignment of the spine while strengthening deep torso muscles.  Developed by Joseph Pilates, "The Pilates Principles" include: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing and flowing movement.  Many practitioners suggest that the fundamental aim of Pilates is creating a fusion of mind and body, so that the body will move naturally with economy, grace and balance.

Power Yoga

This class will challenge your body, increase your strength and endurance while relaxing your mind, a great combination that will leave you refreshed and full of vitality.
 

Kettlebells

KettleBells are cast iron weights with u-shaped handles and they deliver a high intensity, low impact workout that can easily be adjusted to each individual's ability.  KettleBells are referred to as "the handheld gym" because they offer such an effective, yet efficient total body workout.    Correct technique is important & we invite you to learn with Portland's premier KettleBell trainer: Ryan Thomson.
 

Zumba

Shake it up! Inspired by Latin dance moves, Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves into a dynamic fitness experience.  The routines feature interval training that combines fast and slow movements to tone and sculpt your body.  Best of all, Zumba is just plain fun!
 

Strong Women

Find your strength with other inspiring, "strong" women and enjoy improved muscle tone, balance, core strength and energy levels! This strength training workout is designed for women of all ages and fitness levels.  It is fun, accessible and safe for all those who are new to muscle conditioning; however, because the level can be adjusted for each individual, every participant can experience the challenge they are seeking.  Feel strong and centered!
